Farm Shares (CSA)

What is a CSA?

The Community Supported Agriculture concept originated in Japan, traveled to Europe and then to the US where the first CSA was created just over the border in Massachusetts at Indian Line Farm in 1985. Since then CSA’s have taken many different forms but the core concept has remained the same. It is a partnership between a farm and a community of supporters where the supporters purchase a share in the harvest and in return receive a portion of the harvest.

At Trusted Roots Farm, members pick up their produce at the farm.  A portion of the share is U-pick, meaning members will harvest these crops for themselves directly from the field.  As the name implies sustainable agriculture relies on community support and at Trusted Roots Farm we strive to use this medium to build relationships within our community while reconnecting with the natural environment around us.  We ask that each adult member work 2 hours on the farm during the season.  There will be notifications for volunteer opportunities throughout the season.

We are proud members of:

WHAT we grow. WHEN we harvest.

We grow a wide variety of produce, herbs and flowers.  We grow common produce like tomatoes, cucumbers and basil.  We also grow lesser known, but just as delicious and nutritious produce.  Our members get to choose which produce they would like and are free to stick with their favorites or branch out into new flavors. Click below to download our Harvest and U-pick Calendar. This shows what we grow and when we harvest, to help you plan your season and selections.

WHO we are. HOW we grow.

We do not use pesticides or herbicides in our fields. We aim to manage our farm holistically by adding compost, rotational grazing our animals, rotating our crops each season and a wide variety of other low impact, sustainable farming practices.
