The Farmers

Cameron Hastie

Cameron graduated with a degree in Environmental Science from Covenant College. This foundational experience and knowledge has allowed her to pursue a career in Great Ape husbandry and ecologic research.  After many years in the field and a renewed personal commitment to support sustainable and environmentally conscious agriculture, she began her career in farming.  As an apprentice at Cross Island Farms and later Forgotten Thyme Farm, she realized that farming is an amazing medium for building relationships within a community while reconnecting with the natural environment around us.  For the 2010 and 2011 growing seasons, Cameron apprenticed at Caretaker Farm.  In 2012, she co-managed at Caretaker while the Zasada-Spann family spent a year abroad in Chile.

Cameron manages the fields, animals, volunteers and distributions at the farm.

Blake Etchison

She has used this background to springboard her travels around the country.  She has researched spotted owls in California, surveyed insects in Hawai'i, entertained classes as a Mad Scientist in Portland, Oregon and taught thousands of children about the unique ecology in their backyards and around the world as an environmental educator in Salt Lake City, UT, Chesterton, IN and Albany, NY.

Blake manages the marketing, financial administration, website and events at the farm.
